In 2017 Ontario Power Generation created a new mandate that would result in refined business practices and a culture more closely connected to their purpose and values. What they needed was a modern and collaborative work environment that appealed to employees and changing business needs, while generating cost savings through more efficient use of their office space.
Using its intensive research process, Figure3’s design team developed a workplace transformation strategy to support OPG’s bold vision. The much smaller footprint (from 5 floors to 2) created a new and exciting workplace allowing for more connection between staff, aligned with the organization’s One OPG culture shift and OPG’s future. The new environment promotes a greater sense of ownership and involvement among staff and allows them to become more performance-oriented, and demonstrate industry leadership. This project will serve as a template for the transformation of new OPG facilities across Ontario.
OPG selected Figure3 as our design partner in the workplace transformation of our Toronto Headquarters. Figure3 used a creative and thoughtful approach, pushing boundaries, and provided a workplace we couldn’t have envisioned by ourselves. The final design reflects all of our values and supports the culture shifts we are striving for. We were able to reduce our real estate footprint, use sustainable solutions, and deliver an exceptional workplace experience to our employees. We now have a space that energizes and engages our employees and encourages collaboration and innovation. We thoroughly enjoyed working with the Figure3 team.
The open workplace allows more natural light to shine in, and information to flow more freely. With enhanced organizational navigation, the fully accessible space is lively, expands employee mobility and promotes movement and engagement with coworkers. With an appropriate mix of space types to support employee work modes, the staff is fully equipped to feel and work at their best.
