Project Detail

The Wilde

The Wilde Condo is a striking new addition to Toronto’s residential landscape, located at 543 Marlee Avenue in the vibrant Glencairn neighborhood. Designed by Figure3 for Chestnut Hill Developments, this 30-floor, 362-unit condominium project reimagines urban living through a lens of industrial chic, blending raw materials with refined artistry to create a sophisticated yet lived-in aesthetic.

Nestled at the intersection of urban living and industrial aesthetics, The Wilde blends the untamed energy of exposed materials with a refined sense of design. Drawing inspiration from the bold vibrancy of the 70s, each space is crafted as a unique vignette, layered with vibrant art, paintings, and eclectic elements that evoke a sense of individuality and creativity. The result is a seamless blend of old and new—industrial elements meeting modern sensibilities, creating an aesthetic that feels both rooted in history and distinctly contemporary.

The main areas are rich with texture and color, while transition zones, like corridors, embrace a more stripped-down, industrial feel, with exposed brick and minimal ornamentation to create a dynamic contrast. The overall atmosphere channels a vintage vibe, incorporating a curated mix of aged finishes and worn-in textures to provide depth and character, offering a sophisticated yet lived-in charm that feels both timeless and fresh.

Throughout the design, there is a deliberate play to scale that creates moments of interest and whimsy. Oversized sculptural chandeliers, for example, animate the double-height volume of the lounge adjacent to the main lobby. These fixtures anchor the seating groups, transforming the area into an inviting and visually dramatic focal point.

Transition zones, such as corridors, feature an industrial material palette with exposed brick and steel, enhanced by injections of vibrant color to energize the amenities. This juxtaposition between raw, urban materials and lively hues reinforces the building’s dynamic personality. The layered materiality not only adds depth and visual intrigue but also evokes an emotional connection, making the spaces feel both curated and lived-in.

The interplay of proportions, combined with the layering of textures and finishes, makes the space feel as though it has evolved over time, lending it an authentic and timeless character.

With a key demographic of young professionals and families, the development is strategically positioned to appeal to those seeking a vibrant urban lifestyle. Proximity to downtown Toronto, the Eglinton Crosstown LRT, and the Allen Expressway enhances its appeal to commuters, while nearby parks and schools make it a family-friendly haven. The interior amenities, including the lobby and communal spaces, are designed to foster a sense of community and connection. Flexible layouts and adaptable spaces ensure the building can evolve with residents’ needs, from co-working lounges to social hubs.

The project embraces universal design principles, offering barrier-free access and adaptable spaces for residents of all abilities. Collaborations with local suppliers and artists further strengthen the connection between the building and the community, celebrating the craftsmanship and cultural identity of the neighborhood. Its innovative approach, combined with a deep respect for the local context, positions it as a standout project in Toronto’s residential market
